Tracey Kelly
About Tracey

Soulful, warm and laid-back, Tracey Kelly's voice has been described as ethereal yet sensuous. As a songwriter, she has a knack for coming up with original melodies and lyrics, sometimes surreal but always retaining heart and soul. Her singing and songwriting with indie bands Venus Eleven and Rosebud have received airplay and praise from BBC Radio. Timing Is Everything has all the hallmarks of her unique take on music and life.

Tracey's recent pairing with amazing guitarist Jason Sidwell as the jazz-pop acoustic duo Tracey and Jason has added another dimension to her career, one that brings a freshness and honesty to standards and new songs alike. Watch this space for the duo's first album, slated to be released in early 2012.

In session, Tracey has performed in gigs as diverse as Robert Morgan's live film score for 1920s scary classic Nosferatu and dance performance piece Starlight Swimming, where she warbled at the bottom of an empty, star-lit lido in London. She also sings for television and film, including TV commercials and an album's worth of children's songs for Chorion/PBS. Drawing on her love of divas Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee et al, Tracey guest stars with swing ensemble the David Salt Big Band.

Timing Is Everything

"A good example of the title's aphorism,
it's such a great, strong track."

~ Tom Robinson, BBC 6

James Tottles' electric creation revolves around a mysterious amnesiac who appears at a "mind care" hospital in Greenwich Village, capturing the attention of nurse Hope (played by Tracey Kelly) who is determined to get to find the truth when Patient 56 starts drawing skyscopes on his wall. Tracey is also voicing three other minor charactes. Watch this space for a link to the upcoming 10-minute taster film.
  • Thanks to everyone who came along to the SJWV gig  - a great time was had. One of the surprise highlights was a new arrangement of Bon Jovi's You Give Love (A Bad Name). Tracey and Jason Sidwell are now burning the midnight oil writing a new set of tunes.
